My Election Day

I decided to make this article a bit of a journal-like entry for those of you who are interested in how my day has gone.  Hopefully some of this wont be too boring.

I didn’t go to bed until late, around 3 a.m. because of the fact that I got off work and I had to decompress and that took some time.  I was also happy about doing so well on my midterm I took Monday before work, and with that being said, I woke up at 10:52 a.m. (thanks to the sleep app I use to get the exact time), and I immediately went into the living room and turned on the television and at first watched CNN, and after 30 minutes or so I got frustrated and changed it to MSNBC.  I began doing some cleaning and I realized that there was no sound coming from the television.  I went to investigate and the channel had frozen.

7:00 pm hour.

Dinner had been eaten, and I’m going back and forth between CNN and MSNBC.  The first states have been called and so far, Clinton has 3  to Trump’s 33.  I was getting annoyed and I went into the bathroom before the end of the hour because I had developed a headache because of all of the stress.

8:00 p.m. hour

More states have closed and now the electoral map has Clington with 75 electoral votes and Trump with 72.  There are a lot of states that are either too close to call or too early to call as of 8:47 p.m. EST.  This hour has been pretty low key, except for the fact that the cable keeps freezing.  Had to plug and unplug the box twice.  So far so good.  NC, FL, OH, VA and GA are all of the states that are too close to call.

8:57pm – 9:09 pm

Internet and cable went out and missed some states that were called.  The tally now is Clinton with 97 and Trump with 129 electoral votes.  The outages with the Internet and television going out at the same time is getting very suspicious.  It’s 9:11 pm and the cable just went out again.  UGH.

9:11pm –

The cable came back on at 9:16pm (and immediately went back out), internet never came back on.  I saw a brief look at the electoral count, and I saw that Clinton had 104 to Trump was in the 130’s.  This is getting very maddening.

10:31 p.m.

It’s a very serious and tense environment in the apartment as it looks like Donald Trump is having the momentum to win the Presidency and that’s a very frightening thought.  The cable and television has been on now for almost 30 minutes and now the Electoral map is Clinton 122 to Trump 168.  at 10:35, it changed to 131 Clinton to 168 Trump as Hillary picks up Colorado.

11:03 p.m.

Well with Clinton picking up a few more states, including California, Clinton has 209 and Trump 187.  I’m watching MSNBC and others have already called Florida and that went to Trump.  But now, North Carolina went to Donald Trump.  So this election is really taxing my anxiety because to think of the embolden racists if Trump wins will make a scary time to live here in the South.

11:33 p.m.

Trump has won Florida, Iowa and it’s still close in Michigan.  So the total now is Clinton 209 and Trump 228.  I’m trying to think about what I’m going to do if Trump wins.  Where I want to go and surround myself with.  I don’t know if that’s my anxiety.  Right now, I’ve got sweaty hands and that tightness in my chest.

11:54 p.m.

I had to go take a shower because I needed a short break from this madness.  While I was away, Georgia went to Trump, and I figured that would happen.  But it’s now Hillary 209 to Trump 244.  I’m preparing myself for what looks like a Trump presidency.   My life could be affected, and other lives such as Mexicans, Muslims and the LGBT community will be set back possibly more than 50 years.  It looks like the future Dow Jones will plummet over 700 points, which is sharper than the day after 9/11.  I’m stunned.

12:42 a.m. – Wednesday, November 9, 2016

Clinton was awarded Nevada and the electoral count is Hillary 215 to Trump 244.  It looks like PA is going towards Trump along with Wisconsin, which makes him the winner.   Unless something drastic happens, it looks like Donald Trump won the election.  I need time to digest this.  Will write an article after I’ve thought about what this means for the country and how this happened.
