Boob Tube 2017 Fall Preview

American Horror Story Cult Premieres Tuesday 10p E/ 9p E on FX (Credit: FX)

This will be the first annual Fall Preview Special. I will discuss the absence of Elementary from the fall schedule, the major change coming to Kevin Can Wait, and how Will & Grace will handle the series finale.

Elementary

The modern take on Sherlock Holmes set in New York was renewed late in spring. While it was renewed, it won’t return sometime next year as a midseason replacement, and with only 13 episodes. Desmond Harrington (best known as Detective Quinn from Dexter) will join the cast as a regular, as a fellow recovering addict. (Source: Denofgeeks.com)

Kevin Can Wait

As I mentioned back in June, Erin Hayes (who played Kevin James’s wife) was let go from the show and Leah Remini (his co-star on King of Queens) replaced her as a regular. We now know how it will be handled on the show. Erin Hayes’s character will be killed off, and the show will experience a time jump after the death. No idea yet how this will affect the relationship between Kevin and Leah on the show. She first appeared near the end of the first season. (Source: Variety)

Will & Grace

When Will & Grace returns for a 9th season on September 28, it will ignore the time jump from the series finale (season 8) where Will and Grace were estranged from each other and married with kids. They will be single again with no kids, although Harry Connick Jr will make some appearances as Grace’s ex. Karen will be living in her mansion, and Jack will be living across the hall. The show will also address the death of Debbie Reynold’s as she played Grace’s mother on the show. Unfortunately, Rosario (Karen’s maid who she had a love-hate relationship with) won’t be returning as the 81-year-old actress Shelley Morrison has retired from acting.
